The Fiberless and Wireless Headstage records electrophysiological data form brain electrodes, controls the activation of an implanted LED and transfers all the information to the electrophysiology console. It is an electronic component that could be placed or removed from a chronic cannula implanted on the head of an animal. Typically, one needs at least two headstages so that one can be charged while the other is in use.
The package includes a 40 mAh battery, a LED driver, an electrophysiology recording system and a radio frequency transmitter. Simplified headstage versions are also available with only optical or only electrical features.
